Canada & OGDC Strengthen Ties in Energy & Mining

The Canadian High Commissioner, Mr. Tarik Ali Khan, visited the OGDC Head Office. Meeting was held with MD/CEO Mr. Ahmed Hayat Lak to discuss joint venture opportunities in the upstream oil & gas and mining sectors.

The meeting emphasized Canada’s interest in partnering with Pakistan to advance Exploration & Production (E&P) and mineral development. Both sides agreed to revive training programs at the Oil & Gas Training Institute (OGTI) in collaboration with Canadian institutions, building on Canada’s earlier support in establishing OGTI as a Centre of Excellence.

Mr. Tarik Ali Khan commended OGDC’s growth-oriented operations and diversification strategy, particularly its investment in the Reko Diq Project, which highlights Pakistan’s potential in the minerals sector.

This engagement reinforces OGDC’s commitment to international collaboration, capacity building, and sustainable resource development.
