Shale & Tight Gas Resources
OGDC is accelerating the development of shale and tight gas resources, using innovative techniques and cutting edge technology to make it economically viable.
KUC-01
The First dedicated shale gas well to confirm the presence of hydrocarbons in the Sembar Formation. Three zones in KUC-01 (Vertical) were successfully hydraulically fractured and gas flared at the surface. OGDC is planning to drill KUC-01 (Horizontal), with multi-stage fracturing.
Nur West-01
Hydraulically fractured NurWest-01 achieved a gas flow of 1.8 MMSCFD. After this success, a regional third party study has been initiated to identify and validate tight gas potential in the Indus Basin.
Offshore
Through strategic partnerships, OGDC is committed to offshore exploration, focusing on deep and complex formations with high resource potential. Overseas
OGDC is expanding its global footprint by actively pursuing international exploration opportunities. As part of this strategic growth, the Company has secured a working interest in ADNOC Offshore Block 5, marking a significant step in its overseas portfolio. OGDC continues to engage with leading multinational E&P companies for new ventures to diversify its asset base and create long-term value.
Mineral Exploration
As Pakistan’s flagship national energy Company, OGDC is advancing its diversification strategy by pursuing strategic mineral investment opportunities.
