OGDC Signs Agreement with PINSTECH for Critical Mineral Profiling

OGDC has signed an agreement with the Pakistan Institute of Nuclear Science and Technology (PINSTECH) for advanced elemental and radioactive profiling of produced water and brine from selected OGDC wells.

Under the agreement, more than 2,000 samples will be analyzed for lithium, and rare earth elements. The study will establish a comprehensive geochemical database and support the assessment of Direct Lithium Extraction (DLE) potential.

The initiative builds on OGDC’s pilot study at the Wahid Bukhsh-01 well, where geothermal brine containing 291 mg/L of lithium was identified.
